Shiva Tayebi
Associate Attorney
Background
Born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in Bellevue, Washington, Shiva E. Tayebi is an Associate Attorney licensed in Washington, New York, and New Jersey. At just three years old, Shiva and her family immigrated to beautiful Bellevue, Washington where she was raised in a loving home with exceptional parents who instilled in her values of loyalty, kindness and unconditional love. Those values shaped her calling to fairness and advocacy and ultimately led her to pursue a career in law.
Before entering private practice, Shiva worked with Adult Protective Services (APS), where she protected vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. This work gave her a deep understanding of abuse dynamics and strengthened her resolve to advocate for those navigating difficult circumstances. Today, that same compassion guides her in family law as she helps clients through divorce, custody, and domestic violence matters.
Shiva is known for her commitment to protecting the well-being of children and families. listening closely to her clients’ goals, simplifying complex issues, and providing the tools and resources they need to make informed decisions about their future. She is especially proud of moments where she has helped clients find courage, such as guiding a survivor through the process of obtaining a Domestic Violence Protection Order. She is committed to helping her clients feel supported and empowered. Whether in negotiations or in court, Shiva is committed to protecting her clients’ interests and prioritizing the best outcomes for children. She is dedicated to protecting the best interests of children and supporting clients through some of life’s most challenging and sensitive transitions.
Shiva earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude from both. She is an active member of the legal community, with past service on the board of King County Washington Women Lawyers and membership in professional associations including the Washington State Bar, King County Bar Family Law Section, and the Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Seattle.
Shiva is a proud mother of one amazing and energetic son. Her life is full of joy, love, and meaningful moments with him. Together they enjoy mother-son dance parties, cooking meals side by side (with plenty of laughter), going to the beach, swimming, playing tennis and soccer, reading, visiting theme parks (including frequent visits to Disneyland), traveling to different places, and spending time with their extended family and friends. Shiva is also passionate about sharing her Persian heritage with him– from cooking traditional dishes, attending community events, and even presenting about Nowruz (Persian New Year) at his school to help his classmates learn about beautiful traditions and values. As a fluent Farsi speaker, she has passed the language on to her son. She also finds joy in hot yoga, reading books based on true stories, and weekend visits to local farmers markets.
