Kalispell, MT, Whitefish, MT

Raised in the Seattle area, Jeffrey Michael Heutmaker is a Managing Attorney with nearly 35 years of experience working with entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses in industries such as software development, biotechnology, medical and dental devices, manufacturing, power sports, agriculture, internet commerce and infrastructure, retail services, and energy.

He assists startups with determining the appropriate entity structure, forming entities, and determining and documenting the relationships among founders. He also assists companies in identifying and protecting their intellectual property assets, licensing those assets to others, joint development, and other strategic arrangements.

Jeff has substantial experience in financing and securities law compliance, ranging from “friends and family” investment rounds to angel investors, venture capital, and public offerings. He also represents both buyers and sellers in merger and acquisition transactions and has represented companies regarding international business and financing transactions in Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Europe, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Russia.

Jeff specializes in business law and serves as a trusted counselor to his clients. He feels that companies and founders are real engines in our economy, and he enjoys helping entrepreneurs realize their dreams and the economic benefits of their success.

One of his most notable professional accomplishments involves successfully orchestrating an exit transaction for a business that faced the unfortunate demise of both its founders, coupled with significant internal discord within the investor cohort. Overcoming a myriad of challenges, including internal and external litigation, leadership conflicts, financial stability concerns, and pervasive uncertainties, Jeff persevered over a protracted period of 13 years. This diligent and unwavering representation culminated in the culmination of a multi-million dollar sale, standing as a testament to his ability to navigate complex and intricate landscapes with tenacity and expertise.

In his off-time, Jeff enjoys golfing, skiing, fly fishing, mountain biking, rafting, reading fiction, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He is also the Chairman of Whitefish Summer Games.
