Michael Kleaveland was born and raised in Muskegon and is the son of Justin and Rosemary Kleaveland. In 1982, he graduated from Albion College, double majoring in Economics and Anthropology/Sociology. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University Law School, earning his Juris Doctorate degree with honors in 1985. The summer of 1985 was a busy time for Michael. In June 1985, he married his wife, Susan, passed the Michigan Bar Exam, and returned to Muskegon to practice law.
Michael concentrates his practice on estate planning – wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, and on estate settlement. Michael joined Gravis Law in December of 2019.
Michael has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Greater Muskegon Jaycees and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award by the Lakeshore Lung Society.
Michael and his wife Susan, a retired teacher from Orchard View Cardinal Elementary, have three children, Britton, Tyler, and Daly Rosemary. Michael has recently taken up bicycling with a passion once only reserved for soccer. Michael has coached all three children in soccer, but his toughest assignment was coaching his wife’s soccer team, where he learned the art of positive motivation.
