Carla was born in Eugene, Oregon, and grew up in California and Oregon before moving to Idaho in 1975. She began her career as a legal secretary in a general law practice in 1979 and has continued her legal career since. While Carla has experience as a legal assistant/paralegal in the fields of business law, civil litigation, commercial and noncommercial real estate, education law, estate planning, family law, personal injury, probate, and worker’s compensation, she returned to work full-time as a family law paralegal in 2016.
Carla has deep interest in the emotional well-being of her friends and family, and left the legal field in 2011 to work as an Office Manager for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Boise Chapter, and from 2012-2016 she worked as the Executive Administrative for NAMI – Wood River Valley, Inc. at their office in Hailey, Idaho. She is a state trainer in many of NAMI’s programs, has served on the Boards of Directors for both NAMI Boise (the local affiliate) and NAMI Idaho (the state organization), and she volunteers her time in facilitating support groups and providing education to those living with a mental illness and to their families.
When not at work, Carla enjoys spending time with her yorkshire terrier, Roxy, and her family and friends. She enjoys outdoor activities such as bicycling, camping, swimming, and gardening, and she loves to cook, crochet, quilt, and read. Carla is an avid solver of crossword puzzles, and she does them in ink.
