Attorney Ana Cecilia Lopez practices Tax Controversy and Business Law in Bellingham, Washington. In addition to practicing law, Ms. Lopez is an assistant professor and director of the Center for law, diversity and justice at Fairhaven College at Western Washington University. Her classes focus on social justice and the law. Ms. Lopez’s passion for helping citizens in her community extends further as she is the Vice-Chair of the section of taxation pro-bono and low-income taxpayer clinics in the Bellingham area.
Locally, Ms. Lopez is a board member of the Bellingham Community Food Co-Op and the Washington American Civil Liberties Union. She seeks to be a pillar in her community by providing education, information, and direct representation on business and tax law issues for individuals and their businesses. She aspires to promote economic development and community empowerment through facilitating economic growth and inviting civic participation.
She is admitted to the bar in Washington State and the Federal Tax Court. She earned her law degree from University of Washington School of Law in June 2011. Returning to her alma mater in 2012, she continued her legal studies and received her degree in Master of Tax Law. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Lopez managed a tax-credit low-income farm-worker housing program in Bellingham, Washington. She also volunteered at the Whatcom County Dispute Resolution Center and while in undergraduate she was a peer mentor and a “reader” at the center for students with disabilities.
She is passionate about fitness and has a set goal to run a half-marathon someday. Ms. Lopez unites her passion for fitness with nature by hiking and bike riding.
